From the desk of Edd, our CEO.
EHP THEATRE COMPANY started forty years ago in the doorway of the spare bedroom of my family home and I have had the producing bug ever since. I would do variety shows using the doorway of the bedroom as a stage entrance with my brother & sister and Mum & Dad for an audience and they would brilliantly tolerate my made-up shows - they would laugh in the right places and politely applaud after each performance.
The early years...
The doorway shows consisted of awful magic tricks, vocal impressions, jokes from the Beano and slapstick comedy routines copied from Charlie Chaplin videos, all accompanied by the sound of the demo button of the Casio keyboard and me singing ‘Sweet Caroline’ as the big finale, But we all have to start somewhere!
Humble beginnings...
I was rubbish at school and wasn’t a fan of rules, I had no interest in serious subjects until I was introduced to acting and music by my drama teacher and found out I actually was not that bad at it – so I left the spare room doorway productions behind and studied drama at school – then college and then went on to the National Youth Theatre and then Drama School and completed my performance Journey in London’s theatres as an actor.
The dream to produce...
BUT all the time, I still had the dream of being a producer and creator just like when I was a little boy at my parent’s home - I was inspired by the likes of Chaplin and Disney - and now after a lot of work I’m kinda here – not to the level of Chaplin or Disney may I add- but I’m producing theatre shows for theatres across the U.K and their brilliant audiences with the support of my wonderful team! Myself and my team endeavour to keep the dream alive and produce the greatest shows for you, our audience!
